Our Babies

Our Babies

House acts as a half way home where the babies are loved and cared for until they can be placed into an adoptive family. Most babies arrive between new-born and 6 months, our desire is that they will be adopted before they reach 3 years of age.

Several babies have been reunited with family members, either the mother has changed her mind about giving up her baby during the 6 weeks they are given to do this, or a family member or members have been located and have agreed to take the baby. Our social workers work closely with the family to ensure that the reintegration process goes smoothly and maintain contact to ensure that the child is happy.

Of all the babies we have cared for since opening the home, we have placed only 6 in homes for older children because they were not adopted from Hope House. Each child has adapted well to their new 'family' with over 400 babies being adopted.

Our full capacity is 26 babies, but this number fluctuates as babies come and go. Sometime the babies have tested HIV positive with many of them converting to negative before the age of 18 months. For those who remain positive, anti-retroviral medication is very effective and is now free in Kenya.
